We are well aware that our attempts to provide updates on the progress of repairs on 56301 has seen a number of ‘false dawns’ in terms of deadlines which have come and gone.
One wheelset was causing issues and it has been away at the South Devon Railway being overhauled.
It should hopefully be returned to UKRL, Leicester in the coming weeks. Once refitted 56301 should go out on another test run and if successful the locomotive should be passed fit for traffic once again.
As the work nears completion we’ll try to keep this page updated more frequently than it has been in recent times.
