We have a Sales Officer who looks after our sales efforts by buying and selling a wide range of items. We do try to run sales stands at any event which has a Class 56 presence but sometimes the distances involved and availability of volunteers means we can’t cover them all.
The Sales Officer post is a committee post but requires the help of many others to be successful. If you are interested in either helping out on the sales stand itself or perhaps working behind the scenes to dream up new products we can offer then please get in touch.
One product line we are particularly keen to develop is our own produced DVD’s. Our first effort ‘Grid Action’ sold well and we have a number of members with some historic VHS recordings which they’ve offered to us for future DVD projects. If anyone has the time to help, and that could involve sitting through the VHS tapes and documenting whats on each one and then drafting ideas for our next DVD. We’d then need someone with the skills to transfer the material over onto electronic format.
Working on the sales stand at Galas is something I find particularly rewarding as not only do you get to chat to a lot of people including C56G members, we usually organise a day rover for use by volunteers and if we have enough volunteers there’s normally time for a quick spin out behind one of the locos.
